About Us ...Back to Basics has been conducting business in Southern California since 1987, from the late 80's and into the early 90's, Back to Basics conducted business under the name of Back to Basics Home Modifications and Repairs. Back to Basics Home Modifications and Repairs did custom home modifications for the elderly and the physically challenged, specializing in bathroom access and remodeling. During that time, our team continued to see a growing need for a safe and secure way to install grab bars into fiberglass showers or tub enclosures. During the first few years of the 90's, our team of installers and designers decided to look into a safe, secure and cost effective way to install a grab bar into a fiberglass shower or tub enclosure. For the next three years we continued with ideas, prototypes, and a lot of testing until we came up with a mounting bracket that could be installed into a fiberglass shower or tub enclosure while meeting or exceeding standard US building codes along with the Canadian Building Codes. In 1993 the decision was made on the basic design and installation process. We contacted a mechanical engineer and talked about the design and material recommendations and upon final decision the patent process began. The patent process took until the mid 90's. The next choice was to come up with a name for the product. What better name then "The Solid Mount™"? It represents what the product truly is, it is a Safe, Solid and Cost Effective way to install grab bars into Fiberglass showers and tub enclosures. During this time we also choose to put all our effort into the manufacturing and marketing of The Solid Mount™. We changed our name from Back to Basics Home Modifications and Repairs to Back to Basics .
