Why do I need to use The Solid Mount™?

To our knowledge there is only two safe ways to install a grab bar into fiberglass shower or tub enclosures. You could always hire someone to put some structural support between the fiberglass shower and the studs in the wall; the cost would be in the upward area of $400.00 or more plus the time it would take to complete the job, patch the walls and don’t forget the dusty dirty mess. Or if you truly want a quick, safe and money saving way to install a grab bar in a fiberglass shower or tub enclosure then you need The Solid Mount™. The Solid Mount™ is a safe, unique and solid mounting assembly that installs thru the face of your fiberglass shower into the studs of your home so your grab bar is securely fastened and the fiberglass is protected.

How long does it take to install?

It takes approximately less then 1 hour to do a complete installation. We have heard from customers that can install a grab bar in less then 30 minutes

Do I need to purchase your grab bars?

No you do not have to purchase grab bars from Back to Basics, as a matter of fact we do not sell grab bars. It is our belief that there are enough grab bar manufactures that make a great grab bar so why get involved in manufacturing and selling our own line of grab bars when so many companies sell them?

Why can't I just use Toggle Bolts or some other expansion fastener from the web?

Some people believe that you can use toggle bolts or other forms of expansion type fasteners to attach a grab bar to the fiberglass shower or tub enclosure walls, please do not believe these dangerous and insecure methods. Remember the fiberglass that you are putting the toggle bolt or other expansion mounting bracket to still has no structural strength or stability and the walls still can crack and completely break in time allowing you to slip or fall and break your hip or worse.

Do I still need to find the studs?

Yes, you must still find the studs in the wall but don't worry that is really a simple thing to do. The reason for finding the studs is the fiberglass has no structural strength or stability. The Solid Mount™ mounts directly to the stud and gives you a Solid and Safe mounting plate for you to mount your grab bar to.

How Do I install The Solid Mount?

The Solid Mount™ is installed using basic hand tools and takes about 1 hour to complete the installation process. For a complete set of installation instructions follow this link.
